Maureen Fox, R.N., L.Ac. received her undergraduate degree in nursing, and worked as an R.N. prior to receiving her training in Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture at The Academy of Oriental Medicine at Austin, and Midwest College of Oriental Medicine. She has been awarded the title Diplomate of Acupuncture by the National Committee of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (www.NCCAOM.org), and is currently licensed by the state of Missouri. In addition, she is a member of the A.A.A.O.M. (American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine) and the A.A.M. (Acupuncture Association of Missouri.) She is the vice-president of the Acupuncture Association of Missouri

This is what she has to say about traditional Western medicine, Eastern medicine, and her work as a practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine: “I believe traditional Western medicine is at it’s best when it is saving lives, and Eastern medicine’s strength lies in improving the quality of life. It is the difference between ‘being cured,’ and supporting the body in healing.

"As Western medicine has developed stronger, more high tech solutions to specific diseases, many people have developed more complex and chronic diseases that may not respond well to specific remedies. My orientation is to examine and treat you as a whole person, and the aim of treatment is to resolve the root cause of the problem as well as the symptoms. I believe that the human body is amazingly adaptive and, with some help, is capable of healing. "
